Peter Cooper is the principal consultant at Obverse Services, providing fractional CISO and board advisory services to scaling startups across Europe.
He built and led security at Adyen through hypergrowth and IPO, along with infrastructure and technical compliance across global payments and banking regulations.
He has decades of security work spanning Fortune 100 supply chains, semiconductor, insurtech, and regulated financial services. Engineering, architecture, operations, boards, regulators - he’s done all of it.
His approach is refreshingly pragmatic.
Most security advice starts with fear and ends with frameworks and uncontrolled vendor spend. Instead, Peter starts with your business goals and works backwards. Every security decision is a trade-off against product, customers, and growth.

Deliberately choose what can wait - and identify the smallest steps to significant value.He works with Series A through pre-IPO companies, typically 50-500 employees, where security is becoming a real business concern but a full-time CISO doesn’t yet make sense. Retained engagements commonly run at 2-4 days per month.
Peter also serves as a non-executive director for technology businesses, providing an operator’s perspective for boards who want somebody who understands the actual work, not just the governance.
